The Minnesota Valley Humane Society cannot accept any stray dogs from the public, and therefore we do not take reports of lost dogs. We do, however, hold dogs impounded by the city of Eagan. If your dogs went missing in or near the city of Eagan, please contact Eagan Animal Control.

At times, the Minnesota Valley Humane Society does receive stray dogs that were held by individuals for at least 10 days, or that were held by city animal control and were never claimed. These dogs may be placed on our adoption floor. Animals available for adoption.

What to do if your dog is missing

  • When searching for a lost pet, start in your own house and yard, your own neighborhood, then work outward.

  • Check with all local animal shelters and all animal control/police departments. A list of phone numbers is available here. (coming soon)

  • Visit all shelters and animal control facilities. Do not simply call and wait.

  • Make posters to hang in your neighborhood. Most strays are found by people in the community before they are turned over to animal control.

We are open six days a week: Tuesday through Friday, noon to 6 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. We are closed on Mondays.
